The course covers the basic use of GPS for SAR purposes. While there are transferable skills, this course will not cover recreational uses or geocaching. YKSAR will provide sanitized GPS units for use during the course. Please bring your own compass, ruler, pencil, and Basic Searcher manual. Participants may also bring their own GPS units, but course focuses on the GARMIN 76 and 78 models used by YKSAR.
Target Group: Beginners
Prerequisite: Have completed a map and compass course
Time: 2 sessions (1 classroom and 1 field)
Class size: Limited to 9 for classroom work and 18 for field training (may share GPS)
